Kendra Shannon Matula, 72, of Palmyra, Va. passed away at her home on August 13 after a long battle with cancer. She was born September 3, 1942 in West Orange, NJ, the daughter of the late Brinton and Dorothy Shannon. She married David Matula on May, 6, 1972, and they shared 43 years of marriage together.
She was a nurse first but a mother foremost and spent many years in volunteer work with the Navy Relief and Parent-Teacher organizations. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles and was an avid baseball fan.
Kendra’s memory will be carried on by her husband, David Matula, son and daughter-in-law, Seth and Tisha Matula of Palmyra, Va. and their three children Aiden, Reece and Griffin; son and daughter-in-law Jay and Jessica Matula of Germantown, Md. and their two children Joshua and Jaxson; brother, Captain Roger Shannon USCG and wife Margaret and children; brother-in-law, Henry Matula and wife Lana and children. Service arrangements at Arlington National Cemetery are still being arranged.
