Press release

The Fluvanna County government, sheriff’s office and the

Fluvanna County Public Schools, continue to monitor the rapidly evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation. Though there are no known cases in the County, Fluvanna continues to monitor and prepare.

Residents are encouraged to consult available, credible resources to maintain awareness, and to observe healthy practices.

Board of Supervisors Chair John M. Sheridan wants to assure Fluvanna residents that the county is monitoring the situation and highlighted the collaborative efforts to minimize misinformation. “We are working with other agencies to stay up to date with COVID-19,” says Sheridan. “The situation is rapidly evolving and we are continually updating our information.”

County staff is working closely with the Virginia Department of Health’s Thomas Jefferson Health District (TJHD), which has opened a public information line to answer questions about the situation.

Those with questions may call (434) 972-6261.

“There are currently no cases of COVID-19 in our region, but this is an evolving situation,” said TJHD spokesperson Kathryn Goodman. “We’re working closely with all of our community partners to prepare for any local public health response.”

Everyone is encouraged to follow healthy practices, including:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds- sing your favorite song while

washing!
