The Fluco wrestling squad, under the tutelage of Coach Michael Gore, hosted the 5th annual Billy Wensel wrestling tournament on Saturday Jan. 15.

This year’s event brought in 15 visiting wrestling squads from around the region. The Fluco team finished in a respectable 8th place. Two Fluco wrestlers, Aiden Valentine and Sam Stoltz, finished the day with perfect 5-0 records. Valentine is a junior and wrestled at 138 pounds. He had four wins on the mat and one forfeit victory. Stoltz is a sophomore and he had five wins on the mat. He competed at 160 pounds.

Sean Oliva and Austin Moore also were outstanding, as both posted 4-1 records. Oliva and Moore are both seniors.  Oliva was 3—1 in matches and won one by forfeit.  Moore was on the mat for five matches. Oliva competed at 152 pounds, while Moore wrestled at 182 pounds. Wrestling four or  five matches in a day is quite a test. Winning four or five matches is an impressive show of endurance.
