Fundraiser nets $7,670 for fire and rescue

In our community there is a group of quiet individuals, men, women, mothers, fathers, daughters, brothers, friends, and neighbors who serve our community each and every day.  Some from the same family.  These volunteers, most who have full-time jobs, make themselves available outside of their workday and on their days off to protect and save the lives of people in our community.  The volunteers that I refer to are the Fluvanna County and Lake Monticello fire and rescue departments.

This special group of volunteers have touched the lives of so many of us in our community and on May 18, we had the opportunity to help support them with a fundraiser.  This community event brought together businesses, residents and even the volunteers themselves.  Held at our facility in Zion Crossroads, we had 99.7 radio broadcasting live, five rescue vehicles and one ambulance for families and kids to look at and lunch was available with all proceeds going to the cause.  We had a great turn out and all together we were able to raise $7,670 for this amazing group of individuals.

The money will be divided evenly between four volunteer fire departments and two rescue departments.  We intend for this to become an annual event to support this great cause and these great individuals who are there for us day or night 365 days a year.
