The Fluvanna Master Gardener Class of 2026 has graduated!
In a ceremony at Fluvanna Public Library on April 25, students received their handsome diplomas and were feted by accompanying family members and the new friends in the horticultural community.
Twelve students worked through 50 hours of training, plus homework. Thursday evening online
classes were taught by university professors or noted experts in their subjects. Hands-on
Saturday morning field experiences were guided by recognized professionals within this
ecosystem.
In addition to the class and field trips, the students commit to 50 hours of volunteer work
service with the many FMG projects scheduled before year-end.
The Master Gardener training is offered once a year, beginning in late January and continuing
through to the end of April. Subjects cover the spectrum from basic plant pathology to turf,
pruning, and fruits.
Registration for the 2027 class will begin in October. Those interested in the program can discuss it with the FMG Help Desk gardeners at Fluvanna Public Library on Tuesdays, from 2 to 5 p.m. Further information and class registration are available at the website.
