Peggy Tyndall Alexander passed away on July 4, 2026, at the age of 80. Alexander was remembered as a longtime member and employee of the Lake Monticello Owners’ Association. She served as LMOA’s communications manager for more than 25 years and used her photography skills to document life and events at the lake.
She was also the Lake historian and knew seemingly every detail about the community since its creation in 1969. Alexander was a master at setting the record straight when it came to the lake’s history.
Alexander was raised on a farm in Pleasant Grove, near Mount Olive, North Carolina. She later graduated from Mount Olive College, where she majored in business.
Her love of growing things and gardening remained a part of her life. She spent most of her adult years in Virginia and lived on a farm for 10 years, where she raised sheep. She also combined her business skills with her interest in herbs to create and manage Arvon Grove Herbs and Spices.
After moving to Lake Monticello, she became a member of the Beautification Corps and the Fluvanna Garden Club.
Alexander was also a member of the Fluvanna Art Association, exhibiting her work in shows and winning several ribbons. Her fondness for landscapes, particularly the countryside and gardens, was evident in her colorful paintings.
Alexander was pragmatic and independent and was not above seeing the humor in everyday life. Above all, she was dedicated to LMOA and cared deeply for the people with whom she lived and worked.
One of five siblings, she had three brothers and a sister. She is survived by one brother, one sister, four nephews and a niece.
