All three of the candidates were present in the audience.
The election filled vacancies created by the expiration of the second three-year term of Don Fickes and the vacant term created by the resignation of Benita Ellen in January.
Britt Johnson President of LMOA called the 40th Annual Meeting of members to order at just after 1 p.m. He reported on several key issues and events of the past year which included the resignation of Business Manager Kym Sampsell and some of the challenges that and other issues had created for the board.
Cliff Altschull, who is the board’s treasurer, thanked Dick Cummings who volunteered his accounting skills for many months after Sampsell left.
He talked about changes in the credit card payment system as well as the bar code system made in the past year. He noted that the golf course under Billy Casper is doing well and that the new general manager is doing a great job.
General Manager Catherine Neely said she has been on the job for four months now. She started by mentioning that the golf course is in great shape and that daily play is up. She mentioned that LMOA had just learned today that is will receive $17,800 in the form of a state grant to work being done to the dam. She also mentioned the new auditors and the move to the new community website LMOA Voice.
Benita Ellen (who was not present) was honored with a plaque for her service on the LMOA board and for her term as vice president and then president before she resigned to move to the Richmond area to start a new job. Don Fickes was honored for his six years on the board and is only the second person to have served two consecutive terms. Before that he served six years on the Lake Preservation Committee. He was also presented with a plaque.
The 41st LMOA annual meeting will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013.
