He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 27, 1927 to the late Charles E. Geiger and the late Irene (Fay) Geiger.
A United States Navy WWII Veteran, he proudly served on the Minesweeper USS YMS-431 in the Pacific Ocean. Charles, along with his wife, Midge, raised their family in Kings Park, NY, before retiring to Lake Monticello, VA. Charles was a 42 year employee of Otis Elevator Company.
Charles is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 61 years, Midge (Rhein) Geiger, his daughter, Deborah and her husband, Robert, his daughter, Diane and her husband, Joseph, and his son, Kevin and his wife, Susan; his grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Cheryl, Adam, Ryan, Katelyn, Lauren, and Ethan, and a great grandson, Logan. Charles also leaves two brothers, John and Robert and their spouses. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his brother Eugene.
Charles was a devoted husband and father who was loved and admired by his family and has left them with many kind, wonderful and fun memories. Charles loved to travel, golf and visit with family and friends.
The family would like to thank the Martha Jefferson Hospital Cancer Infusion Center nursing staff and the Radiation Oncology technicians and nursing staff, as well as the staff at the Hospice of the Piedmont.
A Memorial Mass was held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 4309 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Palmyra, VA. Burial with military honors, was held at Culpeper National Cemetery at 12:00 noon on Tuesday August 28, 2012.
