Here we go again

Why is this so important? For one example just go to the recent United Nations Climate Report: “It is extremely likely that human influence on climate caused more than half of the observed increase in global average surface temperature from 1951 to 2010,” the draft report says. “There is high confidence that this has warmed the ocean, melted snow and ice, raised global mean sea level and changed some climate extremes in the second half of the 20th century.” And these are just the warning signs.
And who requested that the Environmental Protection Agency reconsider it’s conclusion that global warming is caused by people increasing the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere? That was Cuccinelli. He was so determined to deny the global crisis now facing us that he sued the University of Virginia launching a two-year investigation that targeted scientist and author Michael Mann.
Who won this climate confrontation? Well, the case was tossed out by Virginia’s Supreme Court in 2012 but the lawsuit cost the University of Virginia $600,000 in legal fees to defend itself from our own Attorney General. Which side are you on, Mr. Cuccinelli?
At the most recent debate, the Democratic candidate for governor, Terry McAuliffe, stated, “We cannot grow an economy by suing scientists.” McAuliffe supports green technology. My hope is that with enough support from environmental researchers and concerned citizens, Governor McAuliffe will enact policies that will serve as solutions to the climate crisis that surrounds us.
