We told our friends and neighbors here at the Lake of the situation and asked them to keep a lookout. Not only did they agree to do so, but many of them got in their cars and proceeded to go look for them on their own. There was no hesitation. Many were dog owners, but all appreciated our concern and they searched for hours.
Amazingly, the little dog found his way home on his own, while old Quincy did his usual straight line for about two or three miles, stopped in someone’s front yard, and waited to be returned to us.
Meanwhile, there were many sighting and repeated searches by our kind neighbors and even people we did not know who had heard about the runaways. All were determined to help get our dogs back to us.
Every now and then, in this age if compartmentalization, it’s nice to know that good neighbors, good friends, and even strangers are there for you when you need them. Lake Monticello has a lot of them.
We thank you all so much. Quincy and Elvis both send four paws up!
