Several things need to be said about last week’s Lake Monticello Owners’ Association Board meeting, lest they go unnoticed or unremarked upon. The turnout was an excellent expression of community involvement and concern, an exercise in local democracy too often not seen. Numerous speakers passionately addressed support of Ashlawn Grille, however uninformed or informed they were. What struck this attendee was the boorish rudeness of many participants, the jeering and booing one heard from otherwise presumably adult citizens. The LMOA Board serves the community through countless hours of meetings, pro bono by the way, and always deserves more respect than it received last week.
