Barnett, a popular coach known for his animated, enthusiastic presence on the sidelines, frequently commented on how proud he was that his student athletes were developing into reliable and responsible young men.
But his teams’ results on the field were never impressive during his tenure. Barnett’s record was 4-6 in 2010, 2-8 in 2011, 2-8 in 2012, 1-9 in 2013 and 1-9 this past season.
