Civility

Not recalling building a 1,300 addition in the past few weeks, I called the property assessments office and spoke to a very courteous employee, who promptly forwarded me to an on-site representative of Blue Ridge Mass Assessments. After several minutes of civil discussions, we discovered two large rooms with cathedral ceilings had been mistakenly re-assessed as two separate floors, thus doubling 1,300 square feet of floor space. He stated it was a mistake on their part and would be promptly corrected, although it will take a month to go thru the formal process. He even called me back to inform me of the results.

My take: People are human, mistakes happen, but, it is nice that they are corrected in a prompt, civil manner! Or, as President Reagan used to say “Trust but verify.”
