Obama accomplishments

Jobs

Since Obama took office, we have had 32 consecutive months of increased private sector jobs, or, 4.6 million new private sector jobs.

Obama’s rescuing the auto industry saved 24,000 jobs in Virginia alone.

The Recovery Act provided $4 billion to help Virginia and saved over 131,000 jobs in Virginia, 11,000 of which are in education.

Romney has stated he knows how to create jobs, yet while he was governor, Massachusetts ranked 47th in job creation.

Taxes

Federal tax rates for middle income Virginians are at their lowest since 1955.

Obama gave 95% of American families a tax cut.

Obama gave a 2% payroll tax cut in 2011.

Obama gave 18 tax cuts to small businesses.

Over 170,000 Virginia small businesses are eligible for health care tax credits which will result in over $1 billion of tax relief.

Romney would cut taxes by six figures for millionaires; Romney made $20 million in 2010 but only paid 14% in taxes – a tax rate less than many middle class people pay. If millionaires pay just a little more, the middle class tax rate could stay low and the deficit could be reduced.

Veterans

Ended the war in Iraq.

Reduced the troops in Afghanistan.

Secured the largest increase in funding for Veterans Affairs in over 30 years, while Romney has proposed budget cuts to veterans’ disability compensation; his plan would cut investment in veterans’ health care by 19%.

Health Care

Obama’s health care plan has provided health care to many Americans who could not afford health care because they did not have insurance. So now many more people have needed affordable health care.

Over 400,000 children in Virginia can no longer be denied health care coverage because of a pre-existing condition, and in 2014, no one will be denied health care coverage because of a pre-existing condition.

Insurers may no longer place caps on coverage or cancel coverage because a person gets sick.

Young people can stay covered under their parent’s health insurance up to age 26.

Medicare now offers free many preventative health services, including mammograms and an annual wellness visit.
The donut hole for seniors is closing.

The over $700,000 taken out of medicine was not money taken away from patient care, but was money taken away from insurance companies.

A vote to re-elect Obama will help us to maintain and build on these accomplishments, which will in fact, help us move forward. A vote for Romney will destroy the progress we have made, and move us backwards.
