On the evening of Nov. 14, I made a 911 call. The response was all I could have wished for. Two officers, Rick Hinz and Francis Ferki, were the first responders.
They took control, kept me calm and focused and were able to direct the paramedics when they arrived. Every one of the rescue squad members behaved in a calm competent manner and worked their hardest to revive my husband. I would like to commend them by name. In no particular order: Roger Wilkins, Jason D’Antuono, Brian Morris, Jean Campbell, Lyle Plitt, Greg Conley, Zach Crawford, Jason Reitsma, and Stephen Rea.
They are all heroes. They constantly put themselves in situations in which they know, despite their best efforts, sometimes the outcomes are not good. It takes a special person to do that willingly. The Shattls family will forever be in your debt. Bless you all.
