Notices to continue in Review as informational outreach

Fluvanna County will continue placing public notices in the Fluvanna Review as informational outreach while the newspaper works through a certification issue related to its status as the county’s newspaper of record.

At the June 17 meeting of the Board of Supervisors, county officials discussed how to handle required public hearing notices in the short term.

For the immediate future, legally required notices will run in the Charlottesville Daily Progress to satisfy state requirements.

At the same time, supervisors recognized that many Fluvanna residents rely on the local newspaper to learn about public hearings, rezonings, land use matters, and other county business.

Because of that, the Board agreed to continue publishing notices in the Fluvanna Review to keep local residents informed.

The notices appearing in the Fluvanna Review are not the legally controlling notices at this time. They are being published as informational notices for community outreach while the certification matter is being addressed.

The Review appreciates the county’s continued recognition that local notices need local reach.
