With over 40 vendors and community organizations, it was bigger than ever before! The car show hosted by FUMA drew over 35 vehicles and was top notch. Fork Union Baptist Church had a bouncy house, children’s games, and even horse rides, all for free! The live music of the talented groups Chris & Jimmy, All For Christ, and In Touch had people dancing all day long. The Rivanna Lions Club performed free vision and hearing screenings and the Bloodmobile was on hand as well. It was so nice to see people walking up and down the sidewalks of Rt. 15 to check out the festivities, spread throughout the town, amongst the cherry trees in full bloom. There were well over 600 people in attendance. As one of the members of the planning committee for this event, I’d like to say a big thank you to those dedicated individuals that spent countless months planning and preparing for this day. They are Julie & Dean Boisseau, Mozell Booker, Roger Bowles, Brandon Chiesa, Brad King, Tom Phillips, Cindy Norris and Rhonda White. It’s hard to believe just a few core people can come together once a week and put on such a magnificent free event for the town of Fork Union. Thank you so much to our sponsors, Coca-Cola and Fork Union Medical Associates. Their generosity makes it possible to keep this a free event to our community. The Village Of Fork Union is alive and vibrant, stop by and check out all it has to offer. Look for us at the end of April in 2014, planning has already begun!
