Response to Shaver’s letter

Incidentally, not funding or shutting down Homeland Security does not mean that literally. All workers deemed to be essential keep working. That means there is still border security, airport security, and other essential Homeland Security activities. As in past shutdowns, the department’s core security operations would continue. The word shutdown is a misnomer perpetrated by politicians and the mainstream media in order to scare uninformed voters.
I personally wish compromises could be reached. This is the worst political stone walling atmosphere in my lifetime and I’ve been voting since 1968. But what’s to be done when a President hands U.S. citizenship to 6.5 million people with the stroke of a pen?
