Support the water project

Facts: (1) The water intake at Point of Fork affects a tiny portion of that property, and the owner would be fairly compensated. (2) The site is 1.5 miles from the actual Revolutionary War arsenal, of which there’s no visible trace. (3) The Monacan Indian site is one of many and was obliterated before the Revolutionary War. (4) Other water intake sites would cost more, have silt problems, and would face the same Not In My Backyard issues. (5) Louisa County will put up the vast majority of the upfront money for the James River project.
It’s time for the Fluvanna Board of Supervisors to stop kicking the can down the road, as short-sighted boards have done for 40 years. This project would have been much cheaper if the board had done it seven or 10 years ago, and it will be much more expensive if they wait another 10 years. In the meantime, homeowners will have to continue paying higher taxes, getting fewer services and having access to fewer good jobs in Fluvanna.
Tell your supervisor to support the James River water project.
