Snow

Light snow covers Fluvanna, closes schools A light snow covered Central Virginia with about an inch of snow overnight, closing most schools in the area including Fluvanna County schools. Interstates and primary highways mostly clear with patches of...

FTA is credible

The latest letter by Marvin Moss seems to try to destroy the Fluvanna Taxpayers Association’s creditability by inferring FTA was irresponsible, suing the county and costing taxpayers millions of dollars in unnecessary interest on the school bonds issued in 2008 at a much higher interest rate than necessary. Not true.

Obstructionism

I was dismayed this morning to read of the activities in the General Assembly in Richmond, when they have been in session only for one week. It was indicated that two pieces of legislation had been introduced to overturn the extreme anti-abortion measures that passed last year and gained national scorn. Amphitheater

County hopes for amphitheater at Pleasant Grove The Fluvanna County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Wednesday night (Jan. 16) to submit a Bama Works grant application for money to build an amphitheater at Pleasant Grove.

Inaccurate statement

Marvin Moss made an inaccurate statement about the Fluvanna Taxpayers Association in the last Fluvanna Review (Jan. 10, 2013). His letter about the recent refinancing of school bonds stated: “FTA was more interested in suing the county’s previous finance advisor than in actually saving money by refinancing the school bonds.”
